Lakes & Private Waters
Lakes
Montana Fly Fishing Experience has permits for a number of area lakes. These lakes offer varied opportunities for anglers looking for a different experience. Your Montana Fly Fishing Experience guide can lead you on an adventure to a mountain lake, trout filled waters close to town, or to a river slough in search of large toothy pike. This also allows us to get on fish when the area rivers are blown out with spring run-off. Lake trips give the anglers opportunity to learn new fly fishing methods, target some different species, and bring into play different scenery as well as a completely different Montana Fly Fishing Experience. Grayling, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and outstanding pike fishing are all available with our list of permitted lakes. Your options include fishing dry flies, small bugs in the surface film, or world class sightfishing for Northern pike. Montana Fly Fishing Experience guides are ready and fully equipped to get you on fish no matter the conditions, water, or area.
Private Waters
Montana Fly Fishing Experience also has access to private lakes in central Montana. These trips are limited to at least 2 days with one night lodging. Lodging is a rustic and quaint ranch house near the lakes. The area is stunning and wildlife abounds. It is not unusual to see elk, whitetail deer, mule deer, antelope and coyotes. Known as “Jurassic Pond” by our Montana Fly Fishing Experience guides, these lakes hold some real monsters! Rainbow trout, brook trout, and brown trout are the target species. This is truly a “bucket lister.” Fishing slots are very limited and anglers wanting to fish these private waters should make arrangements well ahead of their desired fishing dates. Lodging, meals, and guiding are included in this package. All packages and meal options are customized for your trip. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple days on the “Jurassic Pond.”
